Grateful for What Remains

By

For so long, I measured my life by what I’d lost.
I counted the goodbyes, the endings, the pieces that never came back.
I thought love was only beautiful when it was whole —
but now I know, even what’s broken can still shine.

Some nights, I still think about how things could have been.
But instead of wishing them back, I whisper thank you.
Because even the pain had purpose.
Even the hurt taught me something my heart needed to know.

Gratitude doesn’t erase the scars — it transforms them.
It turns what once felt like emptiness into proof of survival.
It teaches you that not everything that leaves is a loss.
Sometimes it’s space being made for something better.

There’s beauty in what remains —
in the people who stayed,
in the strength you didn’t know you had,
in the quiet peace that comes when you stop trying to fix everything
and start cherishing what still breathes around you.

Maybe that’s what growing truly is —
not collecting more, but loving deeper the little that lasts.

I used to pray for more.
Now I just pray to never forget how much I already have.
