The Choice to Heal

By

Healing does not come knocking at your door.
It does not arrive suddenly one morning, wrapped like a gift, waiting for you to open it. Healing is not something that happens to you — it is something you choose, again and again, even when it hurts.

For a long time, I waited for it to find me.
I thought time alone would fix what was broken, that the passing of days would carry the pain away. But time does not heal — it only gives us space. What we do with that space is what matters.

The choice to heal is not easy.
It means facing the memories that burn.
It means allowing the tears you’ve been holding back to finally fall.
It means admitting you are not okay — and deciding that it’s okay not to be okay, as long as you keep moving forward.

Some days, healing feels like progress.
Other days, it feels like breaking all over again.
But each time I choose to stand up after I stumble, each time I choose to believe that tomorrow can be better than today, I am healing.

The choice to heal is not about forgetting the past.
It is about refusing to let the past define the rest of your life. It is about turning pain into strength, loss into lessons, scars into stories.

And the most powerful choice of all is this:
to believe that you are worthy of healing.
Because you are.

So I wake up each day and choose — even on the days it feels impossible.
I choose to breathe.
I choose to hope.
I choose to heal.
