If I Could Tell You Now

By

There are so many words I never gave you. They live in me still, heavy and restless.

If I could tell you now… I’d say I’m sorry for the times I let silence speak when I should have spoken love.
I’d tell you that your absence is louder than any argument we ever had.
I’d tell you that I forgive you — and I hope, somehow, you forgive me too.

I’d tell you that I still see you in strangers’ faces, still hear you in songs, still feel you in the smallest things.

Most of all, I’d tell you this: I loved you. I still do. And I will, until the last page of my story is written.

Maybe you already know.
Maybe, wherever you are, you carry those words with you, the way I carry the echo of you in me.
