The Silence Between Us

By

They say silence speaks louder than words.
But the silence between us doesn’t feel like peace — it feels like distance.
A distance that grows wider with every unspoken thought, every message left unsent, every “I miss you” that never makes it past my lips.

There was a time when we spoke about everything.
The little things. The big things. The dreams that kept us awake at night and the fears we whispered in the dark.
Now… the words feel heavier. They get stuck somewhere between my heart and my throat, and I let them die there, unheard.

Do you feel it too?
This weight in the air whenever we talk, as if there’s a storm behind every pause?
Or is it just me, holding on to what once was, while you’ve already let go?

It hurts, you know.
Not in the way a cut bleeds or a bone breaks, but in the quiet, invisible way that only I can feel.
It’s the kind of hurt that doesn’t scream, but lingers.
The kind that makes every smile feel borrowed and every laugh feel forced.

I miss us.
The real us.
The version of us that didn’t need to filter words or measure silences.
The version where I could look into your eyes and know — without doubt — that I mattered.

But now the silence feels louder than any promise you ever made.
And I wonder if you hear it too…
Or if it’s only me, left listening to the echoes of a love that’s slipping through my fingers.

Still, even in this silence, one truth remains:
You were the voice I wanted to hear most, and the silence I feared the most.
