When I Lost You

By

When I lost you… it wasn’t just a day in my life.
It was the day the world changed its color.
The sky wasn’t as blue, the sun didn’t feel as warm, and the silence began to hurt.

That day, something in me broke for good.
I didn’t just feel your absence… I felt every plan, every dream, and every smile tied to you collapse.
You didn’t just leave me with memories.
You left me with a silence that weighs heavy, with nights that are too long, and mornings without meaning.

I try to remember the last time I saw you.
The way your eyes looked, the way you lifted your gaze to meet mine.
But no matter how hard I try, time begins to blur the details — and that hurts even more.
I’m afraid of forgetting… afraid that one day your face will be just a vague image in my mind.

People tell me to move on.
To accept. To let time heal.
But they don’t understand that losing you isn’t a wound that closes. It’s a part of me now.
It’s the weight I carry with every step, the emptiness in every single day.

When I lost you, I lost more than you.
I lost the way I used to laugh for no reason.
I lost the certainty that no matter how hard life was, there was a place where I was understood.
I lost the person who could read my soul without a single word.

And yet… even now, I carry you with me.
In the words I choose, in the decisions I make, in the way I look at the night sky.
You’re in every sad song I play, in every place we’ve been, in every reflection where I think I see you for a moment.

A part of me knows that one day, somewhere, we will meet again.
And when that day comes, I won’t tell you how hard it was without you.
I’ll just tell you that no matter the distance, no matter the time… I never truly let you go.
